Free Private Event: Volunteer or Attend Alex Sheen’s Speech

Alex Sheen, founder of because I said I would, will deliver an inspirational speech in Wilmington, Ohio, on October 12, 2026. Alex is a five-time TEDxTalk speaker, author, and internationally recognized nonprofit leader.

A meet-and-greet and merchandise-table fundraiser will follow the speech. Funds raised support grieving families attending resiliency and mental health retreats at our 92-acre camp. Every $1,500 raised is the equivalent of sponsoring one grieving family for a retreat.

Location: Wilmington, Ohio. This is a private event, so the exact address will be provided only to confirmed attendees.

Choose How You Would Like to Participate

Option 1: Volunteer and Attend the Speech

Help set up and operate the merchandise and meet-and-greet table, including accepting donations with a simple credit card machine. Each volunteer helps raise approximately $500. Volunteers may attend the speech, receive a complimentary because I said I would T-shirt, and have parking fees reimbursed.

• 9:00–9:15 a.m. — Arrive at the venue
• 9:15–9:30 a.m. — Locate all boxes
• 9:30–10:00 a.m. — Set up the merchandise table
• 10:00–11:00 a.m. — Attend Alex Sheen’s speech
• 11:00–11:30 a.m. — Work the merchandise table
• 11:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. — Pack up the merchandise table
• 12:00–12:15 p.m. — Take all boxes to Alex’s car

Option 2: Attend the Speech as a Guest

Choose the guest ticket to attend without volunteer responsibilities. Please arrive 15 minutes early for check-in.

• 9:45 a.m. — Arrive and be seated
• 10:00–11:00 a.m. — Attend Alex Sheen’s speech

• Both options are available to adults age 18 and older.
• Space is very limited.
• There is no cost for either ticket.
