School Support for Camp
Recovery KitA devastating fire has destroyed the because I said I would global headquarters building located at our summer camp and retreat center.
This building housed our entire operations capacity, our inventory, fundraising supplies, recreation equipment, computers and so much more.Update
By request, we've created a template email you can use to request your school's help in supporting because I said I would. We refuse to give up on the youth facing mental health adversities and families in bereavement that we support.
This comeback story we are mounting, unfortunately, is impossible without support. This is not a "cry wolf" situation. It is hard to overstate the magnitude of our losses. We are in desperate and immediate need.

We have outlined a path for schools and their community to aid the recovery efforts.
We are providing three levels of suggested actions that you can take to contribute significantly toward our rebuilding process:Social Media Advocacy
Share our story and cause on your official school social media platforms using our pre-written templates. Edit as you see fit.
Email Outreach
Send an email to your entire email list or a relevant sub-list (e.g. PTA, Staff) using our pre-written template, providing information about our situation and ways they can help. Edit as you see fit.
In addition to everything in Level 1:
Student and Staff Video Campaign
Encourage students and staff to record a short video describing what because I said I would means to them and have them share it on social media. Testimonials such as this can make a huge impact when fundraising. Be sure to tag because I said I would so we can see and share your videos.
Staff Leadership Development Retreat at Camp
Consider supporting the organization and your school staff by hosting a leadership development retreat at Camp because I said I would. Programming includes workshops from our resiliency series and is specifically customized for teachers and school administration. Learn more about our retreats and request availability HERE.
Individual fundraising and donation
Students and staff can help on an individual level by starting their own Facebook fundraiser, sharing our official Facebook fundraising, and/or making a donation. Learn more about individual ways to help HERE.
Letter Home to Parents
To help share our message to the larger community, we encourage you to share your efforts with parents via a parent letter home. This can be a physical or electronic message. Simply use the template letter below to help rally support.
In addition to everything in Level 1 & Level 2:
School-wide fundraising event
Organize and run a school fundraising event such as a Penny Drive to help raise funds for our organization. Encourage students to participate by creating flyers, and posters and sharing on their social media. Looking for creative fundraising ideas? Check out our list of fundraising kits HERE.
School Donation Drive
In addition to monetary donations, we are also in need of specific items that were lost in the fire. A donation drive could be a great idea for a local school that can organize a donation drive to help collect these items and deliver them to camp. We are in need of the following items: Blankets, sheets & towels, cleaning supplies, A/V equipment & cables, archery equipment, soccerballs and disc golf frisbees, sporting goods, general office supplies and clear storage tubs
Program Support
In addition to hosting a fundraising event at your school, you can also support us by hosting a school assembly or bringing our chapter program to your school. The funding from these programs helps support the nonprofit. Learn more about our chapter program and school assemblies.
