FREE EVENT: Want to hear an inspirational message and support grieving families in need?
We’re excited to announce that Alex Sheen, the founder of because I said I would, will be speaking in San Diego on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 and leading a philanthropic activity on Wednesday May 21, 2025. Alex is a five-time TEDxTalk speaker, author, and internationally-recognized nonprofit leader. He will be giving an inspirational speech at this private event and a meet-and-greet table will take place afterward where merchandise table fundraiser for the charity: every $1,500 is the equivalent of sponsoring a grieving family for a resiliency and mental health retreat at our 92-acre camp!
LOCATION: San Diego, CO The exact address will only be given to confirmed attendees
Two ways to attend this Private Event:
Day #1). Volunteer + Attend the Speech Tuesday, May 20, 2025
Join us as a volunteer and help make a real impact! Your role is simple— help set up a merchandise and meet & greet table and distribute merchandise to Spread the word regarding our organization. Each volunteer helps us raise about $500. As a volunteer, you’ll get to attend the speech, receive a free because I said I would T-shirt, and have any parking fees reimbursed. Below is the volunteer schedule for this specific event:
- 10:30 AM – 10:45 AM Arrive At Venue And Park
- 10:45 AM – 11:00 AM Locate All Boxes
- 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM Set Up Merchandise Table
- 11:30 AM – 12:20 PM Attend Alex Sheen’s Speech
- 12:20 PM – 12:50 PM Work Merchandise Table
- 12:50 PM – 1:20 PM Pack Up Merchandise Table
- 1:20 PM – 2:30 PM Assist in packing supplies for distribution at the philanthropic activity. (tentative)
- 2:30 PM -2:45 PM take boxes to storage location to be determined
Day #2). Volunteer and attend Philanthropic activity Wednesday, May 21, 2025
Want to create even more impact? Assist Alex while he leads a philanthropic activity with the event guests decorating frames with words of encouragement to be distributed to families in bereavement.
- 8:00 AM-8:15 Arrive At Venue And Park
- 8:15 AM – 8:30 AM Retrieve boxes from storage location
- 8:30 am – 9:15 AM Pack any remaining supplies into kits for each participant.
- 9:15 AM -9:30 AM Distribute kits to Guests as they enter and take seats.
- 9:30 AM-10:30 AM Attend Philanthropic activity
- 10:30 AM-10:45 AM collect completed projects to be packed intol Boxes
- 10:45 AM – 11:30 AM Pack frames and supplies and prepare for shipment back to camp.
- 11:30 AM-12:00 PM take all boxes to shipment location.

- Both options are open to individuals 18 years and older.
- Spots are VERY limited. We apologize in advance if tickets run out.
- There is no cost for either ticket.
- You may sign up for either day or BOTH days.
