Mental Health First Aid Certification at Camp: March Session
Event Description:
Join us for an official Mental Health First Aid Certification from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing to help you identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. In this training, you’ll learn vital skills that can be used to support friends, colleagues, or community members in crisis. This course will give you the tools to make a real difference when it matters most.

-Community leaders and members interested in mental health advocacy
-Veterans and those supporting veteran mental health
-Friends and family supporting individuals with mental health or substance use challenges
-Teachers, school administrators, and education professionals
-First responders (police officers, firefighters, EMTs)

Pre-Work Information
Before attending the live training at Camp because I said I would, you must complete a required 2-hour pre-work assignment. This pre-work is self-paced and provides foundational knowledge needed for the in-person session. Directions on how to complete the pre-work will be sent two weeks prior to the event.

-Understanding and recognizing mental health and substance use challenges

-Practical exercises: Responding to mental health crises
-Mental Health First Aid action plan and certification wrap-up
-Optional: Tour of our picturesque 92-acre camp and retreat center
Event Host:
This event will be led by Mental Health America of Northern Kentucky & Southwest Ohio, a leading nonprofit dedicated to promoting mental health and wellness through advocacy, education, and support. This is in partnership with Camp Because I Said I Would, a 92-acre camp and retreat center focused on resiliency skills and mental health habits.
Cancellation Policy:
Please provide as much notice as possible if you need to cancel. No-shows may result in a charge, as your reserved spot is valued at $170. Due to limited funding, cancellations impact the ability to provide training at no cost to others.
