Role Overview

The Sales & Business Development Volunteer will be a part of the Sales team. The intern will assist the Account Executive and senior staff by performing administrative and entry-level duties which may include conducting market research, identifying business opportunities, emailing prospective clients, making cold calls, participating in meetings, assisting the Sales department, and other duties as needed.

The volunteer may attend weekly staff meetings, regularly scheduled meetings with their supervisor, and bi-weekly meetings with other interns for professional development.

Responsibilities

Possible role responsibilities include one or more of the following areas:

  • Work with the Account Executive on business development (lead-generating) activities
  • Market research projects such as: searching for organizations (public & private associations, companies, education institutions, etc.) that want a speaker to build a cold-lead list
  • Identify decision-makers within potential customer organizations
  • Identify potential clients using social media and internet research
  • Search and compile lists of like-minded associations, companies, and universities that are similar to our target audience
  • Build a list of State associations in our network
  • Use chatgpt to write social media posts and targeted email “blasts” promoting speaker offerings
  • Invite warm or cold leads to existing speeches
  • Follow-up on business development activities via email and phone calls
  • Updating documents and internal records using Salesforce
  • Build prospect lists to identify missed business opportunities
  • Reach out to past clients that have requested speakers
  • Assist in creating sales outreach strategies

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in motivational speaking, personal development, and social impact.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
