Supporting Grieving Employees:
Resiliency Retreats for Bereaved FamiliesBereavement Retreats
HR professionals and companies often want to support grieving employees but feel unsure how to navigate such a sensitive and personal challenge. They may lack the resources, programs, or guidance to provide meaningful help during such a difficult time. Our Family Bereavement Retreats offer a simple, effective solution by providing employees and their families with a peaceful environment to heal, while the company takes care of the cost—making it an effortless and impactful way to show genuine care. How It Works:
- We Partner together: A simple one-page agreement helps us prepare for the future and allows us to act quickly when one of your families is in need. This also establishes employee sponsorship levels so that it easier to understand costs and budgeting.
- Employee Education: Your company would inform employees of this new program. When an employee submits for bereavement time, your HR department would remind the employee that they are eligible to come to our camp at no cost to the employee.
- Cost Coverage: The company covers the bereavement retreat fees, ensuring no financial burden on the employee during their difficult time.
- Healing Experience: Participants enjoy a peaceful stay at our 92-acre retreat center in one of the two bereavement programs outlined below.
Time Away With Family: Level 1 Program
Families can enjoy nature, outdoor recreation and quality time together without the financial burden of a resort cabin rental. This "Time Away with Family" opportunity purposefully does not include any workshops or guided activities - just quality time with those you love.
- What: A 1 to 4 night stay in our resort cabins at no cost. Transportation and food is covered by the attending families at this time.
- Who: Families who have lost a loved one in the last 24 months. Our goal is to support 150 families a year.
- When: Weekdays, weekends and holidays. All year long. Families receive approval for a no-cost stay at camp usually 21 days before the reservation date.
- How: Approvals are made based on need, donor funding and property availability. Families must either directly apply or be referred by an individual or a partner nonprofit organization.
Bereavement Retreat: Level 2 Program
Our camp offers bereavement programs focused on resiliency skills and mental health habits. These programs are 3-days and 2-nights with about 3 to 5 hours of guided workshops and activities each day. There is also lots of free time to relax. All food and lodging is paid for. Sessions include topics like:
Self-Control: Understanding the Four Types of Self-Control
